I've played both games and D&D:Heroes is far superior.Description Steam Store Description (from Ad Blurbs)Dark Alliance brings to life the world of Dungeons & Dragons in an explosive action brawler filled with real-time combat and dynamic co-op.įrost giants and vengeful dragons roam unchecked through Icewind Dale as invading armies of evil grow stronger every day. I've read some reviews claiming the graphics in 'Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance' are better than this game, and I completely disagree. The magical attacks especially are dazzling. Overall, the graphics on this game are excellent. Some people don't like this, but I like it because I think it's more challenging. You can only save your game at "Warp Spots", usually at the beginning and end of a map. Luckily, this game gives you "Raise Dead Amulets" which can revive a dead character so you don't have to go all the way back to your last save. The difference between difficulty settings (as far as I can tell) is that a harder setting means more bad guys with stronger attacks. I haven't played Nightmare yet, but Hard setting is really tough. There are also four difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Nightmare. The game can be more challenging with multiple players, because the amount of money and equipment you'll find along the journey doesn't increase, and has to be split four ways. ![]() This game is great for one person play, but having a party of three or four can be lots of fun as well. The characters to choose from are: a Human Fighter, an Elven Mage, a Halfling Rogue, and a Dwarven Cleric. The game allows for 1-4 players with four distinct characters. I've never even played the board games, and found this to be lots of fun. Brenda Braithwaite, whose previous credits include Wizardry 8, serves as the game's lead designer.ĭ&D: Heroes is an excellent game. In true Dungeons & Dragons fashion, players will be able to upgrade their weapons and magic items, such as rings and necklaces, as they journey through trap-filled castles, dank caves, arctic wastelands, and other locales making up the realm. Featured monsters include hobgoblins, trolls, drow, mind flayers, yuan-ti, fire giants, ice golems, liches, gargoyles, and more. In addition to casting spells, over 40 combat moves can be initiated, many of which are class specific. Experience gained from defeating monsters and completing quests will help develop a character's skills, traits, and latent spell-casting abilities as documented in the Player's Handbook.Īlso similar to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is the real-time combat with an emphasis on cooperation between characters. ![]() Four character classes are available, including fighter, wizard, cleric, and rogue, each assigned a specific race and gender.
